Hi Derek

My advice here is don't try and compete with the merchant because they will get upset if you are targeting their brand name and if you do out rank them it is possible they could terminate your account. Rather find other keywords to rank for.

Dale you seem to have been in this field for a while now. I have only basically begun as an affiliate.
One burning question to yourself and other affiliates out there.
Lets say I have a powerful optimized site and joined an affiliate lets say for eg Silversands
and specifically targeted their keywords and within a few months jumped their main keyword would they be in their rights to ban my affiliate account?
your views ?

Yes, I must agree with some of the above mentioned comments. Very Little decent affiliate marketing programs in South Africa.

I stumble upon your blog today… One thing I noticed is that your site have a very clean template with minimum adverts. I'd promotes international affiliate programs for about 4 years but never tried the South African market due to limited affiliate networks and other reasons such as the cost of hosting, bulk e-mail services, etc. The South African internet users conduct limited search on keyword which does not allow me to implement my experience gained over the above mentioned years.
Marketing using Cellphone/mobile as a tool will work well in SA.

Hi . Thanks for the great article. I agree that most affiliate programs don't do much to help you sell the product. It would be great if you can check out AffiliateMillionaire.co.za. It's a South African affiliate program/network. I've started it a few months ago and we have some amazing things planned for it. Good Food for thought! Promote only what you feel totally happy about putting your name to; and of course feel secure about the source.
